Happy Woman's Day to you! The first National Woman's Day was observed on February 28, 1909 all across the United States. It had followed a declaration by the Socialist Party of America and also commemorates when 140 woman lost their lives in the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire in 1911, in New York. Women celebrated NWD on the last Sunday of February until 1913. The first International Woman's Day was held on the eve of World War I, in Russia.
